Where Do Your Candidates Stand?

Very often, candidates do not give the public all the information they need to make informed decisions on Election Day, and many anti-choice candidates try to hide their true agendas until after the election.

As a voter, you have the right to know which candidates will stand up and support the issues you care about. Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York wants to make sure you have all the information you need before you head to the voting booth in November.

Our 2008 Voter Guide is a compilation of confidential responses to our candidate questionnaire, public statements made by the candidate, and past voting records, where applicable. Print out a copy to take to the polls with you -- better yet print out a few for your friends and family!

Voter Guide Key:

• PRO - Pro-choice. The candidate's position on reproductive health is consistent with the mission of Planned Parenthood.


• MIXED - The candidate supports restrictions on a woman's reproductive health options.


• Anti-choice - The candidate is opposed to a woman's right to choose and supports major restrictions on a woman's reproductive health options.


• REFUSED - The candidate refused Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York's efforts to obtain her/his position on issues of crucial importance to women and their families regarding reproductive health care and to Planned Parenthood.

• NO RESPONSE - The candidate did not respond to any of Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York's attempts to contact him/her about their positions on issues of crucial importance to women and their families regarding reproductive health care and to Planned Parenthood.
